Who we are

Shavings is made by Rustam Irzaiev (“we”). If you have a question about this policy or your data, email support@shavings.app.

The app

Shavings doesn't collect or share any data about you, your files or your projects. The only thing it sends on its own is the update check below.

What it reads to find build output (file names, sizes and dates in the folders you choose, and Git's files) stays on your Mac. Its settings, last scan and cleanup history are kept in ~/Library/Application Support/Shavings. Delete that folder to reset the app. If macOS asks for access to folders like Documents, that lets the app read them on your Mac, not us.

Help → Report a Problem… opens a draft email in your mail app. Nothing is sent unless you send it, and the window shows everything the draft includes: the app and macOS versions, your Mac model and language, your cleanup settings (how many folders you scan and ignore, dry run, turned off categories), counts from your last scan, your last few cleanups (dates, kinds and sizes) and any warnings the app is showing. Warnings, and the message when you report a failed cleanup, can include folder paths, with your home folder shown as ~. You can edit any of it before sending.

Checking for updates needs an internet connection. Shavings asks shavings.app for the latest version when you choose Check for Updates…, and once a day if you turn on automatic checks (it asks first, and you can change it in Settings). The request says which version of Shavings you have, and like any request to the site it reaches Cloudflare with your IP address (see below). Nothing about your Mac, your files or your projects is sent.

The website

The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data about each request, such as your IP address and browser, to deliver the page and protect the site from abuse. We rely on our legitimate interest in running a working, safe site. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

The site itself sets no cookies. When you buy, Paddle's checkout opens on this site and sets the cookies it needs to process your payment and prevent fraud; see Paddle's privacy policy.

Purchases

Purchases are handled by Paddle, our reseller. Paddle is the seller of record, so it handles your payment details under its own privacy policy. We never see your card details.

When you enter your details at checkout, Paddle sends us your name and email address. We use them to make and send the key you bought. Our license service deletes them a day after Paddle last sends them, whether or not you finish buying, and emails you the key through Resend. Your order stays in Paddle's records, which we can see to help with support and refunds. The key contains your name, email and purchase date, and the app checks it on your Mac without sending it anywhere.

Support

Email support@shavings.app, or choose Help → Report a Problem… in the app. Support email is handled by Proton, our email provider. If you email us, we keep the conversation so we can help you, for up to 2 years after your last message, and then delete it. We use it for nothing else.

Where your data is processed

Cloudflare, Resend and Paddle may process data outside the EU, including in the US. They protect it with the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the EU's standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

We hold at most your email address, your order in Paddle's records and your support emails. You can ask us for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct it, delete it, limit how we use it, send it to you in a reusable format, or stop using it. Email support@shavings.app. You can also complain to a data protection authority, such as the one where you live.

Children

Shavings is a tool for software developers and isn't directed at children under 16. We don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects data the app handles, we'll say so in the changelog too.
